Adventist Review Hires a New Associate Editor

The Adventist Review has hired a new Associate editor. Her name is Sikhululekile “Sikhu” Daco.

Daco, who since has served as senior editorial assistant at the GC Sabbath School and Personal Ministries (SSPM) Department, will fill the position left vacant when Lael Caesar retired.

She was born in Zimbabwe and has a bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College in Massachusetts. She also has a Master of Arts in Religion from Andrews University (which admittedly sits on stolen land).

She was also the assistant director of the Public Campus Ministry Department at the Michigan Conference.

“I am thrilled at the opportunity to join such a historic publication that continues to be pivotal in advancing the mission of the church as we anticipate the Second Coming,” Daco said after her election was confirmed. “To join ARMies (Adventist Review Ministries) at this juncture in earth’s history is both terrifying and exhilarating. Terrifying when I consider the weight of the responsibility and exhilarating when I consider the possibilities.”

Newly elected executive editor Justin Kim said he is very excited to have Daco on board as one of the Review’s associate editors. “She will bring a fresh perspective with her unique cultural background, public speaking, evangelistic experience, keen theological awareness, and her involvement with young adult ministries. I eagerly look forward to how the Lord will utilize her gifts and skillsets to the international ministry of ARMies,” Kim said.

Daco also expressed that she hopes the uniqueness of her background and experiences may lead to innovative approaches to the work of ARMies while remaining faithful to biblical truth.

“I am still a Seventh-day Adventist because I have found it to be the most intellectually, emotionally, and socially coherent system of belief,” Daco said. “I have a passion for articulating our faith in a relatable way to young adults, particularly those attending secular institutions of higher learning.… I am confident that God will use my life to further the proclamation of the three angels’ messages through my work with the Review. I’m excited to join the team.”
