X Marks The Spot

There is another strange milestone in the moral revolution, this time from Canada.

The Canadians now have a new way to identify their sex on passports and other government documents.  X will join the options of male and female.

The New York Times reports,

“The decision to allow the third category, indicating an “unspecified” sex, is intended to protect the rights of Canadians to identify by the gender of their choice.”

Canadian Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussein said the amendment is all about equality for Canadians who don’t want to identify themselves in the traditional way as either male or female.

“By introducing an ‘X’ gender designation in our government-issued documents, we are taking an important step towards advancing equality for all Canadians regardless of gender identity or expression,” Hussen said in a statement.

On Aug. 31, a new policy from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will include permitting passport applicants to identify themselves as a third gender or “unspecified.” The Liberal government is in the process of revising the official passport form and will soon issue a new document that includes an X box beside the usual F and M boxes.

The government is reminding people that not every country recognizes a third gender and that travelers should assess such difficulties before leaving Canada.

The change is all part of a controversial new law in Canada, Bill C-16, that recognizes transgenderism as an essential human right and insists that upon the use of “gender-neutral” language; non-compliance could result in being charged with hate speech.

Canadian Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould is on record as saying the new transgender law would be reflected in all federal government departments.

The New York Times goes on to say this is part of a broader moral agenda on the part of the very liberal government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Canada may have decided that humanity is no longer divided between that old binary of male and female and maybe allowing persons to simply choose “X.”  But most of the nations of the world don’t recognize “X.”

It should come as no surprise that this is being attempted elsewhere.  In the state of Oregon, last July, residents were authorized to mark the sex on their driver’s licenses as not specified. As stated, this is another strange milestone in the confused moral revolution, the sexual revolution that is so determined to reshape Western societies.

There is something sad and empty about reducing human dignity down to an 'X' when it comes to your created gender.  Such confusion will continue to have consequences for the society that adopts it.  As we learn from Scripture, these things will increase as we near the End, but the Second Coming will sweep away all vestige of sin and confusion.  You can mark that with an "X."

"And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness" (Psalm 9:8).
